Mentorship Program

Upon graduation from the L R HELICOPTERS INC. flight training unit, pilots that have demonstrated a high degree of work ethic and airmanship can apply for our mentorship program.

The program based on 1 year, consists of 5 phases.

Phase 1 - Company Indoctrination (Calgary Based)

The Pilot will undergo a company indoctrination program, learning about LR Helicopters' Standard Operating Procedures, the Company Operation Manual, the Maintenance Control Manual, Transportartation of Dangerous Goods, followed by ground and flight training Day and Night on the RH44 type that will end with PCC/PCC certification.

Phase 2 - Line Training (Calgary Based)

The Pilot, under supervision of a Senior Pilot, will learn how to fly Traffic Watch and News Gathering operations in busy Terminal airspace. This requires the pilot to cooperate with the news crew and ATC at the same time.

Phase 3 - Probation (Calgary Based)

The Pilot will start a rotation schedule, covering period of ground work at the main base, flight schedules on Traffic Watch and News Gathering, and introductory Charter Operations.

Phase 4 - Operations

The Pilot, after period of probation is assigned to one of the L R HELICOPTERS bases, Calgary International, Vancouver Boundary Bay, Edmonton City Centre, Winnipeg St. Andrew, Toronto Bartonville, or Calgary Springbank Main Base.

Phase 5 - Review

The Pilot undergoes both 6 month and a 12 month evaluations. Those that have demonstrated solid work ethic, leadership and airmanship will be considered for Turbine and Advanced Training (mountain, forestry, long line, aerial work) and will join the L R HELICOPTERS Pilot Pool.

What if I graduated from another school?

New Graduated pilots, coming from a different FTU can also apply for this program, and applications will be taken in consideration. The qualification process will be different in this case, considering the fact that the Company does not have any prior experience with the applicant.
